LOUIS VUITTON

The original scents created by Louis Vuitton were created in the 1920s, but according to master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, "not even a drop" of those perfumes still exist today because the formulae were destroyed in a fire in the 1950s. Despite the tragedy, Cavallier Belletrud was able to create a whole new olfactory legacy for the fashion house, which has been around for 162 years and had resisted the siren's song of fragrance for the past 70 years. The outcome is Les Parfums Louis Vuitton, a collection of seven startlingly contemporary fragrances.
The collection adheres to Louis Vuitton's heritage in that it is based on fine materials and skilled craftsmanship. However, the fragrances themselves use sophisticated extraction methods and light formulations to modernise and alter traditional flower odours. Third-generation southern French perfumer Cavallier Belletrud began by creating an extensive palette of 2,500 notes that were exclusive to his studio.
